How to increase website traffic

June 12th, 2009

Creating a website is almost like writing a book. You have to spend a lot of time and effort in designing your website, creating content, adding pictures and making the site look attractive. Just as a book needs readers, your website will need viewers to serve its purpose. There are various techniques to bring in viewers and subscribers to your website; increased website traffic means increased advertisement revenue. So read on to see how you can increase web site traffic.

- Keep a unique theme for a website and publish information that’s original and of interest to many. Make sure the content of your website is delivered in a manner that’s attractive and makes viewers want to read more, keeps them entertained and makes them respond. You can include a quiz or an entertaining “amazing facts” trivia section to attract viewers.

- Make sure the website’s content is updated at regular intervals and viewers are informed of the intervals in which they can revisit to get new information. For instance if your website’s updated every week, add a line to inform viewers to visit again the next week to read about whatever you’re planning to add. Some search engines crawl on the basis of frequency of site updates.

- Search Engine Optimization – SEO has gained importance in the last few years. Determine your key words and make sure your website content and metatags have these keywords. Metatags are not usually seen by visitors; they are codes recognized by search engines. It has also been found that keyword phrases are more effective than single keywords. For instance, it’s better to use the keyword phrase “How to make eggless cakes” instead of just “eggless cakes”.

- Link building is another useful technique in bringing in traffic where you exchange links with other websites or place your website’s link at prominent sites that get a lot of traffic. You could write articles, submit them to articles directories and give a footnote with the link to your website. This is very effective because not only does it increase website traffic, it also gets people interested enough in your work to make them repeat visitors. Take part in forums and add your website link as a signature line.

- Build a site map in your website. Search engines give preference to sites with site maps. These are also very helpful to visitors.

- Keep your website’s design simple and easy to use. Offer options of html pages if your website’s designed in flash since html is easier to use when the network connection’s poor.

- Submit your website to search engine lists and make sure it’s indexed properly. Get to know all popular search engines and submit your websites. There are many free directories to which you could submit details of your websites. If you have a specific theme, submit to niche directories. These are frequented by people who want a specific website and not just a keyword specific search.

The above tips should help generate a significant volume of clicks to your website. Just maintain your site carefully and update regularly so that you retain all these visitors to get repeated hits.

Make Money Blogging

June 10th, 2009

Blogging started out years ago as a way for people to connect to others and share pictures, stories and experiences. It was considered to be a great personal journal type tool that one could use to leave their mark on the internet through their encounters.

Blogs then evolved to become excellent Marketing Tools as well as a medium to make money off of. There are a few different ways to earn income from blogging. Here are a few:

  • Adsense ads- The popular search engines offer a way to earn a little extra money with any blog or website. The idea is to place these ads on your site and when a visitor clicks on an ad from your site, you earn a pre-determined amount of money. The more clicks you can get from your site visitors, the more you can make. There are some rules, so if you choose to go this route, be sure to learn what not to do before signing up for their programs.
  • Product Reviews- There are some websites that you can sign up with that can help you connect with other companies who need people to review their products and get them some exposure on your blogs. Usually the main requirement for this is to have a blog that’s been around for awhile and has a fair amount of visitors. Those companies would pay you a specified amount to review their product on your blog.
  • Contextual Links- Some business or website owners will pay a blogger to post one of their links within their blog posts. It may be the owners themselves contacting the blog author or a company that acts as the middleman. Those businesses will find blogs that relate to their companies sites, so the links provided on the blogs will be search engine friendly. This is a great way to earn some extra traffic for a site.
  • Sell products- Blogs are another way you can sell your own products from. Those who have businesses selling home décor items or food container items use blogs a lot to help sell their products and make more money online.

What skills would be helpful?

There isn’t much skill involved in this type of business except the ability to market your blog. You would want to research blogging as much as possible to learn some of the tricks of the trade to get your blog popular.

What Tools would be needed?

Your main tool, besides a computer with an internet connection, would be a blog. There are many blogging programs out there to choose from. Some are free to set up with, while others require a monthly or annual fee to get started with.

The paid versions of blogging programs can help you connect with other blogs and increase your blog’s traffic. The free versions are extremely easy to set up and most are extremely popular amongst bloggers, so finding people to connect with wouldn’t be too hard to do.

How to get started?

Sign up with a blogging program and start posting entries to it. Make sure you’re blogging on a regular basis, which would be about 2 times a week. Blogs that aren’t updated regularly tend to get lost in cyberspace.

Market your blog as much as possible. Get listed on blog directories, get on other people’s blog rolls and comment on other blog author’s posts to get some exposure to your blog. The more traffic you can drive to your blog, the higher your chance of making blogging a lucrative way to make money.

Most of the blogging programs will have a sign up for adsense ads already included in their set up feature, so getting started with that will be easy. If you want to provide product reviews and contextual links, you will want to be blogging for awhile and have a fair amount of traffic coming to it.

When your blog is ready, find the companies that will help you connect with businesses that want to pay to have their products reviewed or have their links embedded with your blog post entries. Once that’s set up, you can start earning some extra income with your blog.

Blogging is an easy way to earn some extra cash if you plan to work hard at marketing it. The ones successful at blogging for money use every route possible to get their blog well known in the internet communities. The ones that don’t, tend to earn only a few cents a week.

Become one of the more successful bloggers and make your blog your business and not just a hobby to partake in once in awhile. Your pocketbook will thank you for it.

Until next time.

Affiliate Marketing – An Introduction For Beginners

June 8th, 2009

Affiliate marketing.  Two simple words that have the power to change your current financial situation so that you never again have to struggle to pay the mortgage, take a vacation or save for the future.

Two words that form the basis of a strong foundation that hundreds of the Internet’s most successful marketers have used as a springboard to creating their own online wealth.

Affiliate marketing, one of the only ways that you can make a full time income being paid to LEARN as you consistently generate income from multiple passive campaigns running on complete autopilot.

Above and beyond all other opportunities that I have ever explored, affiliate marketing has been the easiest and most profitable of endeavours.

Best of all, if you are unable to create your own products, or you can’t afford to hire freelancers or outsource project development, you can exploit the power of affiliate marketing to start making money instantly, while using it to fund all of your future business projects, so that when you finally do go out on your own, you are not only equipped with the experience and knowledge that is required in order to be successful online, but your affiliate marketing efforts can fund EVERY single one of your projects!

There are so many reasons why affiliate marketing is the most lucrative opportunity to get involved in and it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most common methods that new and seasoned marketers use to make money online, while exploring niche markets without ever having to develop a product of their own.

Here are just a few reasons why affiliate marketing is an exceptional business to be a part of:

a)     Potential To Earn Millions
There are affiliates from all walks of life, who have earned millions of dollars a year just by being an affiliate marketer.  The profit potential is nothing short of incredible, and with a solid action plan featured within this guide, you will be able to join the ranks of the most successful affiliates yourself.

b)     You’re The Boss
As an affiliate marketer, you work when you want to setting your own schedule and being able to spend more time with friends and family, as you work from the comfort of your own home.  No deadlines to meet, no boss dictating your schedule, it’s completely up to you.

c)     Very Easy To Do
It doesn’t matter if you are brand to online marketing or not, you really can become a successful affiliate marketer.  There’s no difficult learning curve involved, and no expensive software, tools, resources or training needed.

d)     Low Cost Start Up
With affiliate marketing, the costs are minimal.  You aren’t required to outsource product creation or pay for development and testing.  Your entire focus is to choose profitable products to promote, and drive targeted traffic to your landing pages so that you are able to generate a commission from every sale made as a result of your efforts.

You can get started with nothing more but a domain name and a hosting account.

e)     Earn As You Learn
As an affiliate marketer, you will learn everything you need to know to create high converting landing pages, research niche markets, generate targeted traffic and communicate with responsive email subscribers.  This knowledge and information will not only help you with your current affiliate campaigns, but can be directly applied to your own business in the future.

With affiliate marketing, you can dive into mainstream markets; niche markets and micro niche and determine, without any monetary investment of your own, whether it might be feasible to create your own product for that market later on.

If you discover it’s not, you’ve saved yourself time and money by ‘taste testing’ the different markets using third party products rather than spending time and money developing your own.

It just doesn’t get better or easier than this.

If you have absolutely no experience marketing online, becoming an affiliate marketer will provide you with the opportunity to learn the ropes, rub elbows with established merchants and online marketers and prepare you for the online business world so that when you are ready to create and market your very own product, you will be more than ready to tackle the industry and give it all you’ve got.

Affiliate marketing is also one of the easiest opportunities to get involved in because you don’t need to invest funds in advertising, build networks of websites or deal with customer support.

All you do is promote a handful of high quality products and for each one sold as a result of your promotions, you will earn commissions.

Think of it like this.  Macy’s is having a 50% off special on Black Friday.

Instead of being the store owner who has to manage inventory, process orders, deal with returns and exchanges, promote the sale, or deal with both staff and customers, all you have to do is stand outside of the front door and introduce the merchandise to hungry customers.

Each time someone purchases a $50 item, you are paid $25.

Now, would you rather be out front selling products for $25 a pop when you can walk away at any time, with no responsibilities or obligations to the business, or would you want to be the store owner who is making the SAME amount as you are, but who has all this extra stuff to deal with?

That’s what affiliate marketing is all about.  Now, don’t get me wrong, there are reasons why you’d eventually want to consider going out and building your own product line, but as an affiliate marketer, you can make money promoting other people’s businesses while growing your own business, simultaneously!

I can show you exactly how in my new ebook, Operation Super Affiliate, but for now, your focus should be on laying down a strong foundation as a beginning to your affiliate marketing career, so that you are able to consistently build your wealth while building your business.

7 Must Have’s On Your Sales Page

June 5th, 2009

1. A Compelling Headline

Having a headline that states your BIGGEST benefit and builds curiosity that leads your reader to read further down your sales page is a MUST.

MOST of your visitors will leave your page BEFORE reading anything more than your headline so the better the headline, the better the chance to read more and close the sale

2. Listing your benefits

You should have a list of your benefits each with an explanation on how this applies to your reader (i.e. what is it going to do for them)

3. Testimonials

Do not underestimate the power of testimonials Feedback from happy customers is one of the best forms of “social proof”.

If you are just starting out and have no customers, there are a couple of things you can do:

  • ask friends and family to review your product
  • Send review copies on forums to a few people in return for a testimonial
  • run a small PPC campaign before launching and give free copies in return for feedback

4. An image that represents your product.

An ebook cover, a software box, a DVD box image a report paperback cover image etc are some of the ways you can represent a digital product.

The image is extremely powerful. A picture is processed a LOT faster in people’s minds than blocks of text describing what the picture showcases.

5. A Professionally looking design

If your website is NOT professionally looking, then your potential customer will think that is how sloppy your product is as well and NOT buy from you.

A long form sales letter is not the exception.there are many things you can do to make it look nicer. Here are a few:

  • Put your letter in a 750 pixel table and center it
  • Put your text on white background
  • Use a border around your text
  • Layout the elements of your sales letter using
  • “balanced” design principles
  • Use spacing and white space to enhance reability
  • etc etc

6. A PROMINANT order button/link

A light yellow box with a dotted border that restates the main benefits and call to action has proven to be a winner.

It is Extremely bad when your visitor is ready to order and cannot find your order button.

7. A Guarantee

You MUST have a quarantee. At least 60 days. It always increases conversions. But if you dont agree with me, think about it this way:

Your customers can contact their banks and do a chargeback which NOT only gives them a refund, but also hurt you (you end up paying on top of that). So why not offer the refund since you gonna end up giving it anyway.

Just do it and you will see what I mean by judging your results.

8. Your Bonuses.

Including relevant bonuses with your product almost always increases conversions. It increases your offer’s perceived value dramatically. Some people will even buy your product  MUST for the bonuses. Make sure you give quality bonuses that complement your product.
